Next meeting
We meet Mondays at 9:15 p.m. in the SC&I (School of Communication and Information) Student Lounge on the second floor.

If you have any interest in journalism, this is the organization for you. It is also a good way for non-journalism majors to learn about journalism. Come out. Meet the officers and other members. SPJ is an excellent social organization too with students from all parts of the university.
Tonight's topic is using social media for news gathering.

Here's why you should join Rutgers SPJ…

SPJ is the largest journalism organization in the U.S.... Go to SPJ.org for national SPJ events and to NJSPJ.org for the New Jersey state professional chapter.

Students join their campus SPJ chapters because they want to meet and rub shoulders with working journalists, get advice on how to present themselves for jobs in journalism, understand better how to make up their resumes and clip/tape files, and generally learn more about professional journalism.

It is essential that anyone contemplating a career in journalism learn how the field works, understand concepts of ethics and freedom of information, and begin to have the contacts and sources necessary to gather and write/produce news. The annual fee is only $36.
